W: Darling, we have only one towel.
M: Shall I call room service?
W: Yes, and tell them to send up some breakfast to our room too.
M: OK. What would you like for breakfast?
W: I think I’ll have some toast, a boiled egg, and coffee with cream.
M: But you usually have only a cup of milk for breakfast at home.
W: Well, when you don’t have to cook, you enjoy the meal more. Don’t you think so?
M: Yes. You always do so much for our family, dear. That’s why I always wanted you to have a holi-day. You need a little relaxation.
W: You’re the most considerate husband in the world.
M: Thank you, and you are the most perfect wife in the world.
W: You’re too sweet, you know. Oh, can you help me with the hot water? I want to take a shower, but I don’t know how to turn the hot water on. I’ve never seen equipment like that in a bath-room before.

Food for astronauts has always been a problem. US scientists hope to grow vegetables in mini-green-
-houses on the Moon in order to provide astronauts with fresh vegetables in the future.
The plan is to send a small greenhouse into space in 2012. The greenhouse will contain cabbage seeds. Since this kind of vegetable can go from seed to flower in just 14 days, it can complete its life cycle in just one night on the Moon.
The Moon greenhouse plan has been compared to an experiment at the South Pole. The South Pole greenhouse, now in its fifth year, allows workers liv-ing in the coldest place on Earth to have tomatoes, let-tuce, strawberries and herbs.
“Living on the Moon seems so far away, but it is important that we do this research now,” said Jane Poynter, the president of Paragon, a company that works with NASA.

The scientist I admire most is Zhu Guangya, one of the founders of China’s atomic bomb, mis-sile and satellite program.
Zhu Guangya was born in December 1924 in Wuhan, Hubei Province. He studied physics in uni-versity. From 1946 to 1950, he studied atomic physics at the University of Michigan in America and received a doctor’s degree. He returned to Chi-na in the spring of 1950. After 1957, Zhu Guangya led the research into atomic bombs in China with other scientists. Later he devoted himself to the construction of nuclear plants in China.
In 1999, he received the Two Bombs and One Satellite Meritorious Award. Zhu died of illness on February 26, 2011 at 87. I admire him because he devoted his life to China’s scientific research.

单项填空:
21. D。根据答语“你需要对工作充满热情、与同事合作融洽以及充满自信”和四个选项的意思可知,问的应该是这个工作的要求,故选D项。
22. A。根据suspect后的定语从句可知,此处是特指与谋杀案有关的嫌疑犯,故用定冠词;the murder case指众所周知的那宗谋杀案。
23. C。every time每次,引导时间状语从句,符合句意。even though尽管,now that既然,if only要是……多好啊。
24. A。主语plans与defeat构成动宾关系,谓语使用被动形式。题干中没有出现表示过去的时间,因此使用现在完成时。
