汉语中除了百、千这样的数词，还有万这个数量单位，而英语中则没有万，要说几万就要用几十个thousand来表示。
ten thousand 10,000 一万
twenty thousand 20,000 两万
a (one) hundred thousand 100,000 十万
英语中百万这一单位有对应的词million。
例如：
a (one) million 1,000,000 一百万
two million 2,000,000 两百万
千万和亿英文中没有响应的词汇，要用million来表达。
ten million 10,000,000 一千万 a (one) hundred million 一亿
twenty million 20,000,000 两千万 two hundred million 两亿
表示具体数字时，thousand，million等词后面不能用复数：
twenty thousand people √
twenty thousands people ×
two million people √
two millions people ×
在表达不确定数目时要用thousand，million等词的复数形式。
tens of thousands of people 数万人；成千上万的人
hundreds of thousands of people 数十万人；成百万人
millions of people 数百万人
tens of millions of people 数千万人
hundreds of millions of people 数亿人
thousands of millions of people 数十亿人 （或 billions of people）
有关 half & quarter
one and a half million 和 one million and a half 都可以指1,500,000
two and a quarter millions 和 two millions and a quarter 也都可以指2,250,000
