Once Smith, a traveler, was wet and cold because he hadbeen riding in the rain. At last he reached a country in whichwas so crowded with people that he could not get near the firethere. So he called out to the innkeeper. "Take some fish to myhorse!” The innkeeper answered, "But a horse doesn't eatfish!' Smith then said, "Never mind, do as I tell you." Thecrowd of people, hearing this strange order, ran out to see thehorse eat fish. The traveler, now having the whole room tohimself, sat down beside the fire and warmed himself.
When the innkeeper came back with the crowd of people, hesaid, "Your horse wouldn't eat fish!' The traveler answered,"Put it on the table, and when I have quite dried my clothes, Iwill eat it myself."
